Francisco Pena-Castro Jr. is a visual artist from Brooklyn, New York who works in printmaking and drawing. Through the personification of New York City, with intricate detail created through laborious mark making, he creates intimate works, allowing viewers of any background to slow down and reflect on the injustices faced by the poor and working class in the city, criticizing the actions of those with immense capital as the root cause. Being raised by working class parents, Castro finds it his responsibility to use visual storytelling and the medium of printmaking with its ability to create multiples to spread such themes in such tumultuous times.
Francisco aspires to become situated in the fields of printmaking, illustration, and graphic design. In his free time, he loves to skateboard, ride his bike, appreciate nature/critters, and be with his three cats.
