One Bad Apple… is one piece created as an undergraduate that can serve as a culmination of what I’ve learned. This piece summarizes what I want my work to look like stylistically, how I want to describe a story, and demonstrates a technical and obsessive trait that I often give my work, regardless of medium.
The narrative tells two stories: one of a cat applying a medium to a surface of a truck, in which the branded Happy Apples revolt and chase the cat down the street, as the moon, stars, and buildings watch in laughter, curiosity, and awe. The second tells one of such Happy Apples turn to violence and attack due to a shift in narrative caused by one ill-intended apple, while the others wake up to such narrative manifested, ready to act.
While some may argue the action of the cat disrespected the home of the apples, one must review the overall actions and consequences, as the heated rage of the apples will cause regrets the following morning. The theme of people acting out, following those around them, only to regret in independent reflection can be commonly seen, from crowds of youth to grown ups following what a politician tells them to do.
